After 40 Years In Business, Herzog Roofing Opens New Office In Fargo

Herzog Roofing, a company based in Detroit Lakes, Minn., that specializes in commercial roofing, metal wall panels and repair and maintenance, officially opened a third office in Fargo, N.D., on March 1 at 2580 Main Avenue.

“We are very excited for the expansion beyond our offices in Detroit Lakes and Little Falls,” said Herzog Roofing President Mike Herzog. “Having an office in the FM area will help us to serve our existing clients in the community at an even higher level while developing new relationships with area businesses and institutions.”

This will be the first time that the 40-year-old company will have an office space in the FM area. However, the Detroit Lakes-based company has already had a hand in a number of significant projects throughout the community, including SCHEELS Arena and The Lights at Sheyenne. Herzog Roofing has also contributed to the area’s vibrant education system through its work with Moorhead, Fargo and West Fargo Public Schools as well as Concordia College, Minnesota State University Moorhead and North Dakota State.

For those in the area interested in career opportunities, Herzog Roofing is an excellent organization to build a career with high-paying positions, a focus on safety, volunteerism and family culture. These values have helped the company keep more than 20 of its employees on staff for over 15 years.

Alan Boehne is one such employee. Boehne has been with Herzog Roofing since 1983.

“I like working here because you’re kind of your own boss,” said Boehne. “If you get your work done, you don’t get bothered. Nobody is going to stay somewhere for 40 years if they’re not treated well.

Perhaps most important of all is the family culture at Herzog Roofing. Three years ago, Boehne’s son tragically passed away. The Herzog family stepped up right away, offering the company plane to get family members to the area.

Herzog Roofing also stepped up in a similar manner for Jason Hilde who has been with the company for nearly 28 years. When Hilde’s daughter passed away, they assured him he could have as much time off as he needed.

“It’s unbelievable how good these people are at developing a family atmosphere,” said Hilde. “I know all of the Herzogs and consider them family to me.”
